Follow a safe first-session path: summon a usable team, reach Level 10, redeem codes, learn the hub, and protect scarce upgrade items.

Quick answer

Start with this

Ordered first-session path: first summons, Level 10, code redemption, a Summon/Upgrade/Shops area tour, then early Gem and Trait Reroll priorities. Start with the units your opening summons give you, use an AoE unit to clear Story waves, and reach character Level 10 before doing a large summon session. Level 10 unlocks the Codes button; Release! and TYKaito! alone provide 2,750 confirmed Gems. After redeeming codes, visit the Summon and Upgrade areas, check Random Shops & Merchants, choose one wave carry, and save Trait Rerolls and Perfect Stat Prisms until you know which unit will stay in your team.

Step by step

What to do in-game

Follow the steps in order, then use the notes below to avoid wasting limited currency or materials.

  1. Step 1

    Build a functional starter team

Use the opening banner to fill your available placements. Favor one AoE unit for wave clear, add a Hill unit such as Itsoda when the map offers elevated positions, and avoid rerolling repeatedly just to copy an endgame roster.

Tip: A team that covers Ground and Hill positions is more useful for early Story than three units competing for the same lane job.

  2. Step 2

    Push Story to Level 10

Replay the earliest Story stage your team clears reliably. Upgrade the main wave-clear unit during the run instead of spreading every coin evenly. Character Level 10 is the important checkpoint because the Codes button remains unavailable before it.

  3. Step 3

    Redeem every current code

Open Codes on the right and enter each code with exact capitalization and punctuation. Release! gives 1,750 Gems, AO gives 25 Trait Rerolls, and TYKaito! includes 1,000 Gems plus rerolls and stat items. Check disputed reward rows before budgeting.

  4. Step 4

    Tour the hub areas

Find the Summon Area, Upgrade Area, Trait Reroll station, and Random Shops & Merchants. Knowing where each system lives prevents spending an item simply because a menu appeared before you understood its purpose.

  5. Step 5

    Choose one progression goal

If waves are the problem, improve an AoE carry. If money runs short, use Bluma when available. If bosses stop the run, plan toward a boss unit. Keep a Gem reserve and check the active banner pool before chasing a specific Mythic or Secret.

How it works

The details that change your decision

A beginner team is about jobs, not rarity

Early teams need wave clear, map coverage, and enough economy to place upgrades. Itsoda is a useful Legendary Hill option because his idle time builds range and then damage, while an AoE Ground unit handles grouped enemies.

A Secret is powerful but not required to reach the code gate. Use the units you own to solve the current stage instead of delaying all progress until an unpublished banner chance pays off.

Spend Gems in controlled sessions

Claim codes before opening a large banner session. Confirm the unit you want appears in the live pool, choose a maximum Gem spend, and stop at that number. The public launch material does not provide verified per-unit summon odds.

Keep enough Gems or farm capacity to recover after a poor session. A roster with one invested carry is usually easier to progress than many unupgraded units obtained by spending everything at once.

Protect scarce rerolls and stat items

Trait Rerolls come from gameplay, quests, and codes. Units store two traits but only one is active, so read the active slot before pressing Reroll. Use the calculator to understand community-reported odds before targeting a rare trait.

Perfect Stat Prisms are a premium stat item. Save them for a unit with a clear long-term role. Normal stat items are safer for learning the upgrade system while the launch meta is still changing.

Know when to change modes

Story is the simple first route for levels and progression. Infinite becomes more attractive when a stable team and income unit can benefit from long waves; Raids matter when a required progression item points there.

No complete reward table proves one mode is always best. Use the mode that advances the next documented requirement, and check updates when a patch changes rewards or unit balance.

If you're stuck

Check these before retrying

The Codes button is missing

Reach character Level 10 in Story first; the button stays locked before that checkpoint.

Early waves keep leaking

Concentrate upgrades on one AoE carry and add Hill coverage instead of spreading coins across every unit.

You do not know what to spend

Keep Gems, Trait Rerolls, and Perfect Stat Prisms until a lasting carry or farming role is clear.

Common mistakes

Fix these before trying again

Trying codes below Level 10

The Codes button is gated by character Level 10. Push early Story first, then redeem with exact punctuation.

Spreading upgrades across every unit

Invest in one wave carry first, then add economy or support after the team can clear reliably.

Spending rare items on the first pull

Keep Trait Rerolls and Perfect Stat Prisms until the unit has a documented long-term role.

FAQ

Common questions

What should I do first in Anime Origins?

Build a basic wave-clear team, reach Level 10 in Story, redeem codes, then learn the Summon, Upgrade, and Trait Reroll areas.

How do I reach Level 10 faster?

Repeat the highest early Story stage you clear reliably and focus in-run upgrades on one AoE carry instead of every unit.

Which units are good for beginners?

Use an AoE carry for waves, Itsoda for a budget Hill slot, and Bluma if you own her for long-run income. Roles matter more than one early tier letter.

What should I save as a beginner?

Save Perfect Stat Prisms, most Trait Rerolls, and part of your Gem balance until you identify a unit that will remain in your regular team.
